Your local Merton Stop Smoking service offers FREE support to local people who are thinking of and wanting to take positive steps towards stopping smoking. No matter how long you’ve smoked, quitting benefits your health right away. In just a few days, your sense of taste and smell will get better. Your lungs will start to clear, so breathing feels easier. You’ll also keep your loved ones safe from second-hand smoke and save money.
Our specially-trained practitioners provide completely FREE advice, support and encouragement on how to go about quitting smoking completely. Something which is four times more likely if you make use of the support and medication we offer.
How we can help you quit smoking
If you’ve tried to quit before or thought it was too hard, our Stop Smoking service can help you! People who use this service don’t just quit for a little while – studies show they are four times more likely to stop for good. That’s because you’ll get support and advice from our stop-smoking practitioner.
Quitting isn’t easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our free 12-week support programme includes:
- One-on-one support: Weekly phone or face-to-face sessions with a stop-smoking practitioner.
- Group support: Weekly face-to-face sessions with friendly group support, led by a stop-smoking practitioner.
- Free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT): Helps with cravings and withdrawal.
- Vapes and e-liquids: UK-regulated devices to make quitting easier.

Who can quit with us?
We offer support to anyone aged 12+ who lives, works or is registered at a GP in Merton. This also includes but is not limited to:
- People who are pregnant
- Anyone aged 12 and above who normally resides in the same home as a person who is pregnant and currently smokes (e.g. partner, relative, parent, carer)
- People aged 18 years and above with diagnosed severe mental ill health (SMI) including but not exclusively schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, manic depression
- People aged 18 years and above with a diagnosed respiratory condition
- Young People aged 12-17 years
- Young Adults aged 18-24 years
