Everyone Health invited to showcase work at Prestigious European Conference

Everyone Health is excited to announce that we have been invited to showcase our work at the forthcoming 9th European Conference on Tobacco or Health (ECToH) in Madrid, from 26th to 28th April 2023.

The conference is being hosted by the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Spanish Committee on Tobacco Prevention.

Attendees from across Europe will be coming together with the shared aim of achieving a ‘Tobacco-Free Generation’ in Europe where less than 5% of the population uses tobacco by 2040. This year’s conference will mainly focus on youth and the most vulnerable groups with a special emphasis on the promotion of health equity in tobacco prevention and control.

Liz Gilbert, Everyone Health’s Health Psychologist and National Lead for Behaviour Change will be attending and said “It is a privilege to be attending this conference as it provides a great opportunity to look at what our European colleagues have been doing and sharing best practice.

Everyone Health have been invited to showcase four of our successful tobacco control projects including the work we have been doing around vaping and tobacco use in both primary and secondary schools.

Learning from one another helps inform our work in the fight against tobacco and by coming together we strengthen the tobacco control community as a whole to achieve our goal.”

Everyone Health will be showcasing;

•             Using the COM-B model to identify barriers and facilitators in smoking behaviour.

•             ‘Catch Your Breath’ a school-based smoking and vaping programme for young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, England.

•             Targeting patients suffering with Long Term Conditions who smoke on their General Practitioner’s Quality Outcomes Framework [email protected] (QoF) list, in England.

•             Implementing a tobacco dependency inpatient programme in Staffordshire’s Hospitals, in England.

 Caroline Kenny, Everyone Health’s Clinical Professional Lead for Tobacco Control said “We know that up to two thirds of long-term smokers will die prematurely from illnesses caused by smoking, like cancer, heart or respiratory diseases. Smoking has a direct impact on life expectancy and we need to address the huge disparity between the most advantaged and disadvantaged in society if we are to achieve a smokefree future for all. Talking to colleagues offers us a chance to understand and learn how to make this a reality.
